Welcome to my Blog!!!!

Welcome to my blog! This blog is serving a triple purpose; it is fulfilling a requirement for the technology class I am enrolled in this semester, it is teaching me about new ways to communicate on the web, and I am also using this as an opportunity to organize various elements that may be useful in attaining a teaching position.

On this blog you will find my personal philosophy statement about teaching, my resume, information about me, references from parents of children I have worked with, and references from the actual children, too.

Enjoy!

As a recent teacher licensure graduate and a mom of one of Kelly's diving students, I can most definitely recommend Kelly Repko as a teacher.

Kelly has a depth of knowledge and an even deeper sense of how to teach and coach. When you meet Kelly you are taken by her warmth and genuine kindness. Children easily trust her her and allow her to coach them to do frightening dives.

WIthin minutes she can assess a child's abilty level, create short and long term goals, and then form a plan to get the child there. She then gently guides the child to take successful steps towards that goal. All the while she creates a team spirit of in a sport that is highly individualized.

Good sportsmanship comes naturally as her students respect opposing teams at competition, just as they have been respected by their coach. At last year's city dive championships, other teams had members who were pouting and ill-mannered, Kelly's kids were commended on their genuine good spirit and good will toward each other and the other clubs.

She makes diving fun.

All of these wonderful skills that I have seen her exhibit as a coach could readily be put to use in a classroom.

I am an elementary Reading Specialist in Chesterfield county. I would love it Kelly would teach at my school. She would be the teacher that would be able to have success with students who have: special needs, learning disabilities, and giftedness. Her innate love of children and their individual learning process would make her a amazing teachers and superb candidate in any system.

Most sincerely,

Kelly Tobe

My daughters have been diving with “Coach Kelly” for five summers, and most recently with her winter dive program. She is a truly a gifted coach! Her ability to make practice fun while inspiring her team members to work hard and take risks has kept my girls coming back year after year. She has an innate understanding of what it takes to motivate kids and as a result her divers look forward to practice and push themselves to achieve more.

Kelly exudes enthusiasm and high energy during practice, putting a strong emphasis on the importance of teamwork in concert with individual accomplishment in order to maximize an overall level of satisfaction. She maintains discipline without a heavy hand, and she finds opportunities for recognition and reward for hard work and learning new skills. This results in a cohesive team of confident kids that are proud of their achievements, both individually, and as a team.

I take pleasure in supporting her quest to become an educator. I believe that the exceptional coaching Kelly brings to the dive team will translate to the classroom. From my experiences watching her methods and abilities, I anticipate that it will be a natural transition. I would love for my kids to have a teacher with her talent.

To quote Indigo: "Coach Kelly is so good at teaching us, that when she tells us a dive, we just do it. And she's so funny and nice. She's the BEST dive teacher in the whole entire world! It's true. Thank you for teaching me."

Two of my kids, Nash and Indigo, have been diving with Coach Kelly for the past few years. It has been an amazing experience for the whole entire family. She has the most sincere warmth imaginable, when instructing her students. They feel like they are a part of a little family on that dive team. She is able to give them instruction in such a constructive way that they accept it openly and do not become frustrated. She has a great sense of humor and is the epitome of honesty. I love the way she is able to be so direct and she really has an amazing talent for understanding each and every person's unique personality. She is a barrel of fun! Thanks so much for EVERYTHING! We appreciate you more that you'll ever know. Being on your dive team has been a real "highlight" for the kids and also for the rest of us! DeVonne Dougherty

Dear Sir or Madam,

Kelly Repko has been our dive coach for two of my boys for at least seven years at Granite Swim and Tennis Recreation Club in Richmond. During that time, I have only known Kelly to be an incredible gift to us. I have watched her take potential divers that were afraid to jump off the board and within just a few short weeks of practice and over the course of a summer season, turned them into confident divers worthy of competition. For me personally, she has literally shaped two of my sons into great team divers with not only technical knowledge but a thirst to try more and do more.

I would not even hesitate to recommend Kelly to your staff. She sets the bar high and shows divers how to reach that bar and go beyond. She is great with children and youth one on one and also as a team. My middle son is currently seeking dive scholarship opportunities for college and the only reason he can do that is due to Kelly Repko, her passion and dedication, gifts and talents teaching young people this wonderful sport of diving.

Most sincerely,

It is a pleasure to recommend Kelly Repko as a Dive Coach. She has coached my daughter, Katie, 11, for the past two summers at Granite. Katie had never dived before joining the Granite team and now, after two summers with Kelly, she is in love with the sport and wants to dive at St. Catherine’s as soon as they will allow her.

Kelly is a natural teacher. She is very energetic with the team and sets up great reward systems for the kids. Katie was very eager to earn the various types of points that Kelly kept track of on a chart – promptness, teamwork, etc. Near the end of the season, Kelly held a sleepover at her house for the team members that had earned the most points. It was one of the major highlights of Katie’s summer to win that opportunity.

I was also very impressed with the awards ceremony that Kelly and her assistant coach, Sarah, put together. It was warm and meaningful for every team member, recognizing accomplishments of each child. Kelly has also done a great job developing new coaching talent – Sarah Lisk, her assistant coach, and one of my former students, has grown into a great coach like Kelly that the kids love and work hard for. I know Kelly will be a great addition to any team she has the opportunity to lead!

Sincerely,
